Dear Guests to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Web site,

Pastor Michael R. McFarland
I hope that the information you view is helpful in answering your questions and also encouraging you in your spiritual life.

Christians around the world are preparing to enter the most Holy time of the Church year. On Sunday, March 16th, Christians begin the sacred observance of Holy Week with the remembrance of Jesus’ triumphal entry into the city of Jerusalem. This day is called Palm Sunday. On this day we remember that our precious Savior has heard the cry of His people and is going the way of the cross for us.

On Thursday of Holy Week, Christians celebrate Maundy Thursday. On Maundy Thursday, Christians share in the Holy Sacrament of the Altar that our Savior instituted for us.

On Friday of Holy Week, Christians remember the crucifixion of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. This most somber of days marks the fact that Jesus gave His life for us on the Cross of Calvary that we would be blessed with forgiveness, new life, and salvation.

On Sunday of Holy Week, Christians celebrate with tremendous joy the glorious resurrection of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. Easter Sunday marks the most holy of days in the church year. On this day, Christ physically rose from the grave foreshadowing our own resurrection unto life everlasting.

I hope and pray that you are blessed with a fantastic Holy Week. I invite you to join us for the special services during this time of the year as God’s people reflect upon the blessing of a Savior and all that means for life now and forevermore.

Have a most blessed Holy Week,
Pastor Michael McFarland
