Praise & Worship Services Print E-mail
Come and join us Sundays at 11 a.m. in the Gymnasium of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and School as we worship our Lord in the Praise and Worship Service.

The Rev. John Greene, LCMS Pastor and active member of Emmanuel will lead the services. We are excited about the opportunity to offer God's people yet another opportunity to enter His Holy Presence and lift their voices in praise, thanksgiving, and prayer unto Him.

We would love to invite you to come and explore a vibrant relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. He is merciful, forgiving, compassionate and longs for you to trust in Him as Savior and Lord of your life.

2008 Sermon Themes

September 7 - Matthew 18:15-20 - "The power of forgiveness."
So often we hear the quote about "where two or three are gathered ... there I am." and think of it in terms of Jesus' promise to be with us even in small gatherings, or even that He is giving a word of blessing to small congregations.  While these things may not be incorrect, if we look at these words within the context in which Jesus says them, they speak to the incredible dynamic power of forgiveness.

September 14 - Matthew 18:21-35 - "Forgiveness, a powerful witness."
Sometimes we worry about not being very good witnesses to our faith.  Our concern often centers around the fear that we don't "know" enough, or aren't skilled enough at "apologetics".  However, we really are strong witnesses when we proclaim to others the same words that we ourselves hear from the Master ... "I forgive you."

September 21 - Matthew 20:1-16 - "Please, God, don't be fair!"
Would we rather God be fair, or generous?  It is possible for God to be just and generous at the same time.  It is possible for God to be just and "unfair," (depending on our definition of "fair") and that's ok!

September 28 - No P & W service.

October 5 - Matthew 21:33-46 - "God's arms are open very wide."
Throughout the Old Testament there are many clues, and outright statements, that God's Messiah will be for all people, including Gentiles.  Here we see one of Jesus' many statements that display this fact.  This brings up the interesting question, Now that we are on the "inside", how are we to view those on the "outside"? Of course, the answer is, in the same way God does...and just how is that?

October 12 -  Matthew 22:1-14 - "There's always room for more."
The Church's job of evangelism is never finished, because there is no seating capacity or occupancy limit in heaven.

October 19 - Matthew 22:15-22 - "Jesus doesn't fit in your box."
Whether it is Pharisees who are trying to trap Him, or disciples who are trying to understand Him, Jesus doesn't fit in anybody's nice neat package of expectations.  There are some fundamental reasons why, and we are to be thankful for that!
